DOGTORS now has the professional CAT:SCAN-CT program available!  Tier 2 is now in ENGLAND for training and evaluation with Caring Canines.

This program doesn't change what our teams are currently doing.  Instead, it allow us, under our new division, 'CAT'  (Comprehensive Animal-assisted Therapy) , to educate other teams, administrators, etc. in AAT.

This will result in a certification as an AAT Specialist. Another first for DOGTORS, the U.S.A. ... and now the world!

TID BITS...

Visiting friends, family or staff at Mercy or Community hospitals is not a liability to DOGTORS.   Our teams cannot work for the hospitals, including visiting other patients, etc.  Call me if you have questions!

We now have 4 miniature horses as part of DOGTORS, with two of them in West Virginia!  They are involved in schools, nursing facilities and many other places as requested.

Maintaining your Certification

We have had some teams choose other groups to work with in AAT.  This, of course, is  an option, but it comes with major changes, starting with the termination of DOGTORS liability, certification and membership.  The certification from DOGTORS is valid only while you have met the requirements of DOGTORS, meaning representing only DOGTORS while you are working, maintaining your vet requirements, etc.  Once any of those parameters are no longer encompassed, the certification is void.

In addition, any team no longer under DOGTORS who is involved in a lawuit or incident may make no claim as to any responsibility upon DOGTORS, and further, may also have suit filed against them by DOGTORS for any said implication.  This is especially true for any cases filed against Mercy or any of their entities, including Community Mercy Health Partners.

This position of single membership is not unique, as most other AAT organizations require a sole representation as an AAT team.  As always, we put safety first, even if that means disqualifying any facility.  We will continue to be the finest & safest AAT provider in America.

Greene Memorial Hospital

We have started AAT in the Mental Health department at GMH, and there may other opportunities upcoming.  I have a meeting in July for the hospital administration to help them get on track with the 'particulars' they need to consider using the animals in hospital, as the use has been isolated to the rehabilitation department for many years.

I will update as information is known, but for now, be thinking about any desire you or your partner may have to work there.  The hospital is 17 minutes from my house (3 minutes closer than Community was), so it isn't a long drive.  One trip a week is not going to hurt anyone's gas budget, and it may be the first time the hospital actually opens up for general use of AAT.  While you are there, you may recognize some familiar faces, as some of our friends from Community have now found a happy place to really care for their patients.
